Income Generation Activities
Income Generation Activities
Income generation activities are a key method of developing and introducing new skills into the local community. It is anticipated that new skills will enhance the earning capacity of families within the Chiawa region and encourage self sufficiency long term.
The Chiawa Trust is currently supporting a programme of tailoring and design skills for women's groups from the Kabwado, Chiawa, Chilimanga and Gota-Gota areas. This will support the training of 30 women in cutting and designing simple clothing for themselves, their families and in particular the local school uniforms. Eight sewing machines were purchased and training undertaken over a six month period in 2011.
